| Summer's almost over. 3 weeks from tomorrow, I'll be leaving for Houston and Abilene a day or 2 after that to get ready for NSO again. I'm not ready!!
Summer has been WONDERFUL. Working at the scrapbooking store has been the perfect job for me. We had camp with 10 girls last week...it was CRAZY but SO fun! The only bad thing probably is that I've bought too many new supplies!! But I have some super cute layouts and am pretty much caught up! Becca went to work with me today to make a present for Samantha. I was going to make something too, but there were just too many customers! I guess that's a good thing though. I'm not ready to leave. Sure I hang out with high schoolers and middle schoolers or adults here, but I just LOVE Baton Rouge soo much! Well I guess the people...I always get like this when I have to leave. Why does HSU have to be so stinking far away!?
We got 2 new roommates. I hope this works out this time. I still hate that things went bad with M'Lynn. I hear she's doing well which is good. The girls move in a few days before me. They'll be in the master room, which means Lindsay and I won't have to walk across the house to visit each other! One of the new roomies worked at Pine Cove with you, Christy...Becky Tucker. Small world huh!?
Small world major again, a group from PDBC (my church in Abilene) came with TX Church Builders to build a church in Prairieville, LA last week. Then it turned out to be a church where some of the staff and members used to go to WBC. I got to meet up with the team from PDBC to help a little and hang out which was alot of fun. I was a little tour guide!
Sunday was the 1 year annivesary of Jacquelyn's death. It feels like yesterday, but forever ago at the same time. It was kinda weird b/c the Hales, the Morrisons, the Welches, and the Booths were all out of town. I don't think they really wanted to be in town b/c it was such a hard day. I housesat for the Booth's while they were in Europe for the month. It was kinda theraputic in a way to be in Jacq's house. I really enjoyed being there. Saturday a few of the girls went swimming, and we went to the cemetary for about an hour and a half to put roses on the grave. We aren't supposed to put too much on the grave and headstone, but Jacq's grave is always so decorated! She sure stands out! We went again on Sunday, and it's still just so unreal. She's in a better place, but I still miss her alot.

Isn't my daddy the greatest man ever!? Not only did he raise 3 kids, he tames wild baby alligators too. Gotta love LA!
In other news, I went to the scrapbooking store at 6:00 this morning for the "summer soltice sale." Everything in the store was 40% off for the first 30 minutes, and the sale is going down little by little throughout the day. Even I was amused at the women who were there before the doors opened. When their watches said it was time to open, they were knocking on the door as if 30 minutes wasn't enough time to find enough stuff and check out. I think I was in and out in like 15 minutes, and I talked to Mrs. Sherry and showed my mom around...of course I already knew what I wanted since I'm there everyday. My mommy went with me...and bought my stuff!! She thought the women were hilarious and laughed at them. I told her that'd probably be me some day. I kinda hope not though. Even though I didn't want to get out of bed this morning, I've already gotten alot accomplished by doing so. Not that I'm going to get up at 5 everyday now. I'm kinda tired and none of my friends are up yet. Maybe I should just go take a nap! | | |
| I'm home now. I've been here for umm about 5 weeks now. Wow I didn't realize it had been that long. I'm working at Scrapbook Hardware for the summer, and I love it But it's shown me that I am not a normal 20 year old girl. I relate better to older women, most of whom have kids and or grandkids. I mean, how many girls my age can look at a brand of paper and tell you who manufactured it, or can tell the difference between Bazzill Blue and Blue Jean paper. Did you know that Nathan is a shade of green paper, and that white comes in about 4 shades, not counting any grayish or off white color? If you need a personal die cutting system, I could tell you the pros and cons of the Wishblade and the Cricut, although the Wishblade is by far a better deal. I know the latest and greatest tools, but my favorite is the crop-a-dial. After many years of the eyelet setters changing and becoming "better," this one is amazing. You can punch holes through like a gazillion pieces of cardstock with one hand, and it doesn't even hurt!! It also sets any size or type of eyelet or snap with ease, and no hammer! It's been fun to learn how to use Quickutz and embossing powder with the heat gun. I get to work on my book and make pages to hang on the wall, or layouts to make packets to sell. Even though Michael's and Hobby Lobby sell products cheaper, they just want your money and could care less about your lives or if you have a place to "crop" on Friday night. I'm sure no one cares about any of this, but if you ever have a desire to start scrapbooking, I could tell you more than you probably care to know and could talk about it as long as you'll listen. I think I'm crazy, but it's a hobby, and I guess I've just become passionate about it. Kinda like Greg with his comic books. Maybe not. I need to go babysit now. That's my summer...scrapbooking and babysitting...fun times. | | |
| Tonight was a good night. I saw like 50 people i don't see on a regular basis but have a special place in my heart. I should hang out on campus more often. Nathan isn't coming back to HSU though. Sad day major! I'm going to have to come back at the beginning of August for his bday b/c I owe him a guitar cake. I need to figure out how I'm going to do that! I love how I stay out late once finals start though. Maybe since I'm not taking 19 hours next semester, I won't be such a nerd. I've taken 4 finals, turned in 3 papers, and have 2 exams left...one of which is in 6.5 hours! I'm getting my hair done tomorrow too...with the money I get from selling back my books. Gotta love being jobless. I'm probably working at a scrpbooking store this summer though! I'll finally have a real job to put on my resume. I just hope my paychecks don't go back to the store! I'll be good. And I'm going to sleep now. I just wanted to let you know that I had a great night, if you care. | | |
| It's sad that I'm "currently reading" a textbook...I wonder how I would do on my finals if I didn't really study. Life would be more fun right now, that's for sure. But I'm Lauren Evans...I would never not study for a test. I'm ready to be in BR again...just about a week til I will be! With a few detours of course. Back to the books... | | |
